Kelly Korner: Your CTA Is Boring. Let’s Fix That Before Black Friday.

Hey friends,

We need to talk about your call-to-action (CTA). You know, that little button or line of text that is supposed to convince someone to do something? The one sitting quietly at the bottom of your beautifully designed email that says something like “Learn More” or “Click Here”?

Yeah… that one.

Here’s the thing: your CTA is where the conversion happens. It’s the moment your reader decides whether to act or ignore you. And yet, so many brands treat it like an afterthought.

With Black Friday coming up fast, a boring CTA could mean the difference between a click and a delete. Let’s fix that.

What Makes a CTA Work

A great CTA does two things:

  1. It creates energy: Inviting someone to take a step, not issuing a command.
  2. It meets your reader where they are: Guiding them forward, not pushing too soon.

That means ditching the corporate fluff (“Submit,” “Learn More”) and replacing it with something that feels human and specific.

CTA Transformations I Love

See the difference? One feels like work. The other feels like momentum.

The Secret to Better CTAs: Context

Every great CTA answers the reader’s unspoken question: Why now?

  • In a holiday promo, urgency matters. (“Claim Your Early Access Deal”)
  • In a newsletter, curiosity wins. (“See the Trends I’m Watching”)
  • In a lead magnet, value drives clicks. (“Steal My Q4 Prep Checklist”)

You can’t just copy and paste the same CTA across every campaign. Context is everything.

Let’s Make It Practical

This month, I’m offering free 15-minute CTA review sessions for small businesses who want to improve their email performance before Black Friday. We’ll look at what you’re sending now, identify the weak spots, and give you 2 – 3 quick wins to test before your next campaign.

Because when you fix your CTA, you fix your conversions.

My Final Word

Your CTA isn’t a button, it’s where attention turns into action. So before you launch another campaign, ask yourself: “Would I click this?” If not, let’s talk.

Until next time,
Kelly
